Dyma'r Criw Cymraeg 2024/25

We have been elected to promote the Welsh language around our school and to support our Welsh Language Charter journey. We are aiming towards achieving our Siarter Iaith Gold Award. Keep an eye out on this page for updates about events and activities.

This year we entered the llefaru competition in the Urdd Eisteddfod for the first time.  This took place at the Pheonix Theatre. We were really pleased to come 3rd with our recitation of the poem 'Myrddin.' 

We held another successful Welsh week and Eisteddfod this year. As always we were overwhelmed with the quality and quantity of entries received for our homework competitions. On the day we had lots of fun competing in our house teams in the adrodd, dawnsio gwerin a canu competitions. The staff also completed funny challenges for bonus points which were lots of fun! The day ended with our chairing of the bardd ceremony. This year's bardd recited their beautiful poem based on the myths and legends of Wales.

We are very pleased to announce that at the end of February we were awarded our Gwobr Arian. The Criw Cymraeg are over the moon and would like to thank all the staff, pupils and parents of our school. Diolch yn fawr iawn!

To celebrate Shwmae Day and Eisteddfod y Rhondda returning for the first time in 50 years, we held an art competition across the school. Seren a Sbarc came to award our class winners in a special assembly at the start of term and these were entered into the main Eisteddfod. We are really pleased to announce that Olivia from blwyddyn 5 and Corey from blwyddyn 6 came 1st and 2nd overall in the competition that was held on Saturday 9th November 2022.
