Dosbarth Aur- Mr Evans

Autumn Term 2025 -

Croeso i ddosbarth Arian. This term our topic is entitled "Wonderful Marvellous Me", focussing on our Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds and what we need to do to achieve this. We will be looking at how to keep our bodies fit and and healthy, how our hearts work and using Hwb to present our information. We will be learning about the different food groups and their importance for a balanced diet. Sugar investigations identify many myths associated with "healthy" food and drinks. We will also look at the dangers of excessive screen time and the importance of a good night's sleep. We will also be promoting positive friendships and what this looks like in school and the community as well as learning strategies to help identify and regulate emotions.

Learning Experiences

Exploring Identity through Portraits workshop at Cardiff Museum.

The children visited different rooms in the gallery, first looking at realism portraits and then looking at abstract pieces of work. Following on from this, the children created their own self portraits and then studied the work of Picasso, creating their own abstract portraits.

The Jungle Book Drama Workshop

Image theatre came to school to work with the children with many of them taking part in the performance.

Treorchy Library visit

Every few weeks we visit Treorchy Library choosing books we interested in, chatting about authors and the many displays shown in the foyer. These books are used for silent reading sessions back in the class. It is important for us to support our local library, keeping it open.

The Daily Mile

Promoting a healthy lifestyle and brain breaks from lessons.

Christmas Concert  -

It’s the night before Christmas, and Bethlehem is holding its annual baking competition. This year, though, there are a few surprise contestants: some shepherds from the local fields, a choir of angels from the heavens, and three wise-looking chaps who arrived on camels.

Following on from this, the children will be baking delicious sweet treats for our Christmas Fete, understanding that these can be part of a healthy and balanced diet.
