Dosbarth Enfys - Mrs Waite

Mrs Waite, Mrs Codd and Miss Gregson

Welcome you to Dosbarth Enfys.

Our learning environment is one of a calming easy space that ensures the children feel safe and secure and happy in school.

We aim to ignite a child's natural curiosity to explore the world around them. Instead of directing children and telling them what to do, the curiosity approach is based on child-led learning. Therefore, children make their own choices and figure things out for themselves which leads to enhanced confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. It aims to create children who are 'thinkers and doers' instead of passive learners who simply follow the direction of an adult. By creating active learners, children are more engaged in their environment and have a lot more fun.

Real, authentic, open-ended resources are easily accessible in the classroom and are placed at eye level. They include items that are made from natural materials, such as wood to encourage children to think of their own ideas when it comes to play time. we use loose parts to encourage fine motor control, pattern, making, shape identification, recognising textures, comparing sizes and developing communication.

Our Learning Environment.

First Week of Nursery.

First week in school fun!! Making friends, exploring our classroom and the playground. Learning all about Marvellous little me and my friends in school.😍

A fantastic squiggle wiggle . For the first time in the nursery class we danced our fingers in playdough disco. Moved our large bodies in the squiggle wiggle dance, before picking up two crayons and creating squiggle wiggle lines up, down and across. This will help us grow strong muscles and fingers to become writers. 🤩🖍🖍

Recognising our names and mark making with meaning to represent our names. 😊

Developing our co-ordination and balance during dance sessions with Mrs Green.😊

After listening to the colour monster story, we looked at how the colour monster was feeling and discussed how we were feeling in school. Everyone picked the colour to draw the colour monster for their own feelings. Answering Who, What and Why questions.😍

Looking at our facial features in a mirror and working hard to draw a self portrait.😀

We went on a colour hunt and found a rainbow of colours in our classroom. Everyone set about helping to sort the colours into the matching coloured jars.

Using our pointing fingers in foam to copy emotion faces.

Everyone  was very creative in the nursery class using the loose parts to make a face in the playdough.  We were able to name the features of the faces we made. 😊

We drew around our bodies, naming our body parts. Everyone got creative outdoors with the chalks. 😍

Developing your phonic and listening skills with letters and sounds phase one listening walk game. Quietly listening outdoors for sounds we could hear.🤩

Having super fun developing our motor skills with funky fingers, dough disco and squiggle wiggle as we learn to become writers.😍

A rainy day did not stop our outdoor fun. We popped on our wellies and puddle suits to explore all the sounds we could hear in the rain. We heard drip, drip, drip. Splash and sploosh! We noticed the rain water had made a muddy puddles in the garden. They were the best to jump into, turning our wellies muddy😊
