Our Aims
Treorchy Primary School is a community which values learners and learning. How children view themselves as individuals and as learners is of primary importance to us.
We aim to :
- Recognise that every child is unique.
- Foster and protect positive relationships with staff, children, families, and the wider community.
- Promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing in all our children and staff.
- Provide opportunities for rich, authentic learning to take place.
- Develop a love for learning and to lead the children through their learning journey, wherever they may begin on the continuum.
- Utilise the skills and expertise that exist within our wider community.
- Foster excitement, curiosity and intrigue which allows time for children to explore, investigate and think.
- Develop resilient and independent learners.
- Enable children to develop the skills to achieve their potential and to be life-long learners.
- Allow pupils to express their opinions, ideas, and creative thinking in a safe and trusting environment.
- Give children the opportunity and skills to monitor and reflect on their own learning and to ask questions.
- Create a calm and nurturing environment where learning and learners can thrive.
These curriculum aims were incorporated into our whole school vision for the curriculum.
