Believing, Learning and Growing Together / Credu, dysgu a thyfu gyda’n gilydd

Our Core Values

All staff were involved in choosing a set of core values – attributes and behaviours that we want to help everybody at Treorchy to develop during their time at the school. We believe that these behaviours will help children to become better lifelong learners and make Treorchy a happy and supportive environment for learning in line with the four purposes.

Empathy and Kindness

Children and adults in Treorchy are able to put themselves in other people’s shoes and show concern and care for others, both within and outside of the school. They look after one another and can put others before themselves.

Nurturing Teamwork

At Treorchy, team work makes the dream work! We collaborate to solve problems, find solutions and create products, communicating clearly and confidently to help everyone learn from each other.

Respect and Relationships

Children and adults at Treorchy show respect for one another, for themselves and for their environment, fostering and protecting positive relationships. We are a restorative school and believe that everybody has a voice and is listened to.

Independence and Resilience

Children and adults at Treorchy persevere in the face of challenges and stay calm in stressful situations. They take risks and understand the value of making mistakes. Our learners think and act in a way that they are responsible for their own behaviours and emotions, are self-reflective and are confident to face new challenges. They make the most of the opportunities they are provided with and access their learning in the most appropriate way for them. We don’t say no, we give it a go!

Curiosity and Creativity

Children and adults at Treorchy foster excitement, curiosity and intrigue which allows time for children to explore, investigate and think. Every day brings opportunity to explore, try something new, or do something familiar in a different way. Children and adults are always wondering “why? as inquirers, reflecting on their own learning and asking questions.

Happiness and Wellbeing

Children and adults at Treorchy can think for themselves and find creative solutions to problems. Physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing is promoted in all our children and staff.
